Job Summary
- Assist in the planning, directing, and/or coordination of the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with food-safety, cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
- Dedicated backup for the Production Manager, and upon assuming that role is responsible for all aspects of that position while incumbent is not available.
- Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of the Material Handlers and Production Operators and assisting the Production Manager with facility responsibilities for production to include product quality / product safety, maintenance, and other production-related activities
Job Description
- Assist in the coordination and management function as it relates to the production, processing and distribution activities of the manufacturing organization including outside tolling facilities.
- Enforce safety and sanitation regulations by ensuring facility strict adherence to all HS&E regulations and policies.
- Assist in recommending expenditures for supplies, materials, and human resources, making sure that materials, labor and equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
- Assist in the human resource function for the department including hiring, training, evaluation and termination recommendations for staff. Resolve personnel grievances.
- Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
- Assist in the production tracking and food safety/quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports, to detect production problems..
- Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are safe and of prescribed quality.
- Act as the primary backup for any SQF duties in the Production Manager’s absence. This would include participation on the SQF Food Safety Team and Food Management Team.
- Assist in promoting facility food safety awareness and food quality responsibilities by communicating, managing and enforcing all protocol requirements for the department are met to maintain/achieve certification. This includes ensuring all required training has been
completed and all job functions related to food safety/quality has been verified and validated per requirements.
- Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.
- Perform data entry in ERP system as needed for system maintenance and usage/consumption.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience in manufacturing; preferably in a production or operations type of environment
- Prior experience in the ISO9001 environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA Standards for General Industry.
- Production and Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Mathematics – Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics and their applications
