Job Summary

  • Safely operates tractor-trailers, transporting freight across defined routes and between production and warehouse locations. Shuttles and spots trailers as required
  • Responsible for handling, loading & unloading, both hazardous and non-hazardous materials using powered and non-powered material handling devices.
  • Performs vehicle inspections, tractor fueling and some minor maintenance as required.
  • Ensures all loads/shipments comply with all regulatory requirements including DOT requirements (logs, bills of lading, packaging, marking, labelling etc), and company policies and standards

Job Requirements

  • Conducts safe operation of material handling devices including but not limited to tractors, trailers, forklifts, pallet jacks, and Reach trucks, stretch film machines and others as required
  • Ensures all packages picked for transport/shipment are properly labelled, marked, and palletized as required, paying special attention to regulatory requirements and any special customer requests.
  • Performs duties including truck and trailer transport, loading, unloading, palletizing, storing of materials in designated bin locations, verifying and completing paperwork and documents.
  • Conduct routine checks of trucks, trailers, material handling equipment and work areas, ensuring that equipment is in good working order and good housekeeping practices are being followed.
  • Uses pick tickets to pull, prep, stage and load materials for shipment, ensuring that all pick ticket instructions are followed.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete training in all applicable regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by Warehouse Supervisor, Logistics Supervisor, and/or Site Management.

  • Must be able to make decisions concerning process and regulatory standards to ensure compliance.
  • Time management decisions related to multitasking to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Required Experience regarding the job

  1. Required CDL with Hazardous Materials Endorsement Required with additional tanker endorsement preferred.
  2. Minimum High School diploma or equivalent is required
  3. Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  5. Must be able to satisfactorily complete safety, regulatory training within designated timeframe.
  6. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variable in standardized situations.
  7. Must be able to meet company insurability / liability requirements.
