2010 Carbon Report
As a responsible company, we acknowledge that we have a critical role to play in mitigating climate change by introducing products and services that reduce carbon emissions of our customers by reducing our own carbon footprint.
An outcome of DyStar's Global Sustainability Project
We at DyStar are pleased to share with you our first annual Carbon Footprint Report. The report is an outcome of DyStar's Global Sustainability Project that we launched at the beginning of the year 2011.
One of the key goals of the project was to measure our carbon dioxide (CO2) inventory for the calendar year 2010 in line with established international reporting frameworks such as the Green House Gas (GHG) Protocol.
As a responsible company, we acknowledge that we have a critical role to play in mitigating climate change by introducing products and services that reduce carbon emissions of our customers, and by reducing our own carbon footprint.
We believe reducing carbon emissions is good for everyone. It's good for our customers who are increasingly seeking suppliers and partners with sustainability credentials. It's good for the company as saving carbon eventually means reducing costs. And it's good for the planet and our future generations.
We have always maintained industry leadership in offering innovative products and services that help our customers reduce their environmental impact. We now look forward to demonstrating similar leadership in reducing our own environmental impact by building sustainability excellence across our businesses.
We believe this report is a key milestone in our sustainability journey as it provides us with a deeper and wider insight into sources of greenhouse gas emissions in our worldwide operations. This will help us in managing our carbon more effectively. The carbon footprint for 2010 will also serve as the base year to be used as a benchmark for measuring progress over the years.
The next step for us is to undertake measures to continuously reduce the carbon intensity of our operations to become a carbon-smart company. We are gearing up organization-wide resources to achieve this.
The senior management team is working closely to develop goals and targets to deliver on our commitment to reduce carbon intensity in the coming years.
In short, we will have to find ways to reduce consumption of energy while still delivering healthy growth in business, and the best-in-class products and services that DyStar is known for.
We are confident that with the carbon reduction initiatives as well as a number of other sustainability initiatives, DyStar will continue to strengthen its reputation as a sustainable and trusted brand.
